Beardyman

Beardyman is awesome. . . . After winning the well renowned Lyric Pad Beatbox Battle twice in 2004, he went on to win the title of London champion and UK runner up in the 2005 Championships and the following year became UK Beatbox Champion 2006. He successfully defended his title in June 2007 to become the first beatboxer in UK history to win the national championships twice in a row. He will represent his country in the next World Beatbox Championships (Date to be announced.) His first musical venture was writing a symphony for his school orchestra at the age of ten. At fifteen, an introduction to drum ’n’ bass led to his long-standing obsession with music technology. Now, in his live shows, as well as world-class solo human-beatbox, he uses cutting-edge sound-mangling technology to create dance-inducing layered rhythms, breath-taking soundscapes, fully produced songs and tunes, all improvised and created entirely from his voice. In Beardyman’s shows, no pre-recorded material is used, and everything is created live and in real time in front of the audience, who he takes on a mind-bending journey from dumbstruck to dancing and back again. His unique ablity to get any crowd going bonkers has seen him play huge stages ranging from legendary drum ’n’ bass rave ’Slammin Vinyl’ to the gigantic childrens concerts Young Voices which tour the largest indoor stadiums in the country.

Nucleus Roots

The ideology behind the formation of Nucleus Roots was the creation of a studio resource for the abundant vocal talents existing in Manchester UK that had little or no outlet. The studio focused on roots reggae and as it grew, so did the catalogue of artists, arrangements and songs at their disposal. This then created a live platform for the artists in the form of the Nucleus Roots Band. Nucleus Roots has evolved into a unique brand. They now have a 2-fold formula; Nucleus Roots Sound System/Band, an explosive, authentic roots reggae/dub experience featuring, in various combinations; Moses, MC MegaDread (Megatone Foundation), Ossie Gad (The Natural-ites) along with P. Lush and Peter Teknical, and the Nucleus Roots Production studio, which creates some of the most exciting, authentic, roots sounds in the UK.

Kangaroo Moon

Kangaroo Moon seems to be mutating into a many headed marsupial these days. Gigs in Europe and Australia over the past year have featured different lineups, Mark Robson being the only constant, working with many different musicians. With such a dynamic pool of musicians to call on, Kangaroo Moon's musical spectrum has widened more than ever with electro squelchy psychedelic funk, ethno celto folk and everything in between getting a look in. The latest edition to the Kangaoo Moon brand is the KANGAROO KYLIE BAND - ceilidh band with dance caller. Kangaroo Moon weave many strands from world, rock, folk and dance, with acoustic and electronic influences into a funky, psychedelic, heart-lifting wall of sound. Trancy, richly melodic and dancey, listeners experience a sound which unites the body and soul in deep, joyful psychedelia and elemental dance.

Bad Science

Fusing the deep bass and spacious soundscapes of dub with the dancefloor grooves of funk and the head-nodding rhythms and conscious lyrical gymnastics of hip-hop, Bad Science have created a unique brand of musical wickedness. From their humble beginnings playing shows at Sussex University and the Pressure Point, the group have gone on to tour the festival circuit, putting in appearances at Glastonbury, Shambala and the Big Green Gathering, to name but a few. Having played supports for acts such as Ozomatli, Aim, Nightmares on Wax and Foreign Beggars, both in the UK and abroad, Bad Science have cemented a reputation as an inspiring and ultra-energetic live act. With three EPs under their collective belt, and some national championship titles to boot (vocalist Dizraeli is both the Farrago the Radio 4 national slam poetry champion!), Bad Science are spreading more positivity than a genetically-modified love virus!

Dogshow

Dogshow are the brothers Crombie on drum kit and synthesizers, augmented by their Russian counterpart Krutikov designing lightshows and visuals. Having travelled the land far and wide in their rusty transit van, Dogshow settled in a derelict nightclub in Liverpool. With an exciting new playground offering the freedom to pick and mix history, genres, people, inventions, and ideas Dogshow hope to find the new sound. For now more smoke, more lighting, more intensity, and more adventures in the techno wagon is the plan. Perhaps leading to world domination or a nuclear meltdown.

Los Albertos

Since their formation Los Albertos have been creating a frenzy upon the dance floors and grassy fields of Europe with their inimitable foot-stompin', brass-blarin', and rip snortin' high energy blend of ska, punk, funk, dub and original beats. Drawing upon a peculiarly twisted English humour (where The Comic Strip meets League of Gentlemen) this six-piece throw in some dynamite horn, guitar and drum action and invariably you end up with a band firing on all cylinders. It's dance music, Jim, but not as we know it…"A band to make you smile and keep you bouncing all night long, this is original happy ska with a sound something akin to The Specials, with a modern-day flavour" - BBC Southern Counties

Sweet Sweet Lies

"Sweet Sweet Lies" style is best described as "A crudely drawn mix of folk, bluegrass, and post-punk. they draw reference from such influences as Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Willie Nelson, Tom Waits and Kurt Weill. In the year they have been together they have achieved Radio play on Radio Reverb, Juice FM, and have played a host of top venues around the country, as well as "The Great Escape", the Isle Of Wight Festival and Glastonbury Festival. "For fans of Johnny Cash, Hove resident Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen, look no further than Sweet Sweet Lies. Vocalist Dominic VonTrapp's voice is as smooth as it is haunting and his lyrics are witty and full of pathos. Augmented by co-conspirator Michael Hayes's guitar work, his simple yet touching songs linger in the mind long after they're gone." - Marcus Hamblett

Bonze

Psychedelic funksters 'BONZE' are a diverse eruption from the swirling bowels of Kent. A live band consisting of drums, bass, guitar, synths and other assorted electronic contraptions, Bonze have been playing music together since school days. Slowly....slowly the tapestry was woven telling the story of what happens when 5 devout musical extremists embark on a journey together and happen to stumble upon a sound like no other. The bands first mumblings were heard in the haven of outdoor parties where Bonze gathered a dedicated following. Last summer they were seen on many a festival stage including The Glade and Waveform Project, also getting down and dirty with the city revellers at events such as Little green planet. With their delicate mix of quirky psychedelic electro breakbeat-funk, Bonze are capable of sending a dance floor into irrepressible spasms. Be warned.
