What's New at Sunrise 20-10?

Sunrise Celebration announces the launch of 4 new stages for this year’s festival from 3rd-6th June 2010 and the new Carnival of Life field.

The Invisible Circus Stage and jaw-dropping environment will be one of our major highlights in the new Carnival field. Bristol’s masters of renegade circus performance and eccentric genius’s behind the recent Carney Ville Shows at Bridewell Island, Bristol will be gracing us with their twisted humour and awe inspiring talents. With nightly shows, revelry and all manner of bizarre and incredible things, they will be creating an environmental extravaganza to illuminate the Carnival of Life field by night.

The cool cats from Pussyfoot and Cirque Idyllique will be introducing the Pussyfoot Cabaret Lounge, with cabaret, comedy, and Burlesque. The vibe will be reminiscent of a 1940’s speak-easy jazz lounge with tables and chairs, dancing, groovy mooching and excellent entertainment.

The Carnival of Life field will be filled with costume cavorting and Carnival buzz with Samba, Capoeira and world dance. Dress up and costume making, games for the Big Kids amongst us, bouncy castle, bingo, fairground rides, live displays from amazing graffiti artists and more.

The new Spit 'n' Sawdust Outdoor Stage in the Village Green will be an adventure in Bluegrass, Hoe-down and Folk, with Gypsy, rootsy vibes and Breton Dancing. Relax on the grass in the sun and be carried away… and Lost Horizons Cafe Stage will also be making an appearance with their earthy fusion vibes and rootsy stage, combined with Yurt Sauna and tipi chill-out. The Village Green will occupy the top field with a Transition Towns Hub, Permaculture Garden, Off Grid Talks tent, and lots more delights including a new Eco-Build Area.

2010 sees us branching out a little to add some awesome comedians to our line-up of speakers and this year we are really thrilled to announce Mark Thomas - comedian and activist as one of our headliners!

And if that isn’t enough to get you in the mood we are also launching the whole new Sunrise Dance Stage in association with Liquid Records. With some of the  best décor and visual artists on the scene, there will be a range of music from Dub Step, Psy Trance, Techno, Dub, Breaks, Electronica and more.

The Amazing rocking vibes of Chai Wallah's will once again be holding the central hub, with an awesome line up of some of the best known and loved stars, festival acts and new talent.

This year’s line-up so far includes: Zion Train, The Correspondents, The Egg, Belleruche, Macka B and the Roots Regga Band, Banco De Gaia, Rory McLeod, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Nucleus Roots, Smerins Anti-Social Club…. and of course Mark Thomas. More headline announcements are coming soon!

The Eartheart will be with us again in association with Gaia Chill as the Alchemy Chill an ambient chill out with juice and herbal elixir cocktails and relaxed vibes. The infamous Bimble Inn returns- perhaps the only pub in a giant tipi that the world has ever seen. This year as well as the usual rocking line-up and some special guest surprises, the Bimble will be hosting a ‘Carry on Karaoke’ night, so get you spangly pants on and prepare for your moment of fame. The Triban Collective stage will also be back.

We will be extending our remit for children from pre birth to teenagers. The new teen focused Urban Revolve will be launched this year, with an electronic jam space, skate-ramp and graffiti demos. For 3-8 year olds we have Forest School - teaching bush craft, survival skills and den building and the Birth Art Dome - a new arrival with workshops on conscious and natural birth. This will be alongside the usual toddlers play area, craft and delights from the Ladybird Project, storytelling, and all manner of play!
