Sunrise Community Woodland Scheme

Sunrise Community Woodland Project Launch!

We're finally bringing a dream of ours into reality this year. Despite 'carbon neutral' being a grey area in the green movement, at its heart is a concept that we resonate with. So we thought we'd run our own community woodland project - and give people coming to Sunrise a chance to donate to the creation of this new woodland.

So rather than offering you a chance to 'off-set your carbon' we'll actually plant trees (productive fruit or nut trees) in a woodland that YOU can come and visit any time of year! The idea is to create a place that will benefit the local community by providing local food, as well as giving Sunrisers a place to come and enjoy the fruits of their offerings! From now on, whenever you buy a ticket you'll have the option to 'buy a fruit tree for planting' for just £4.00. We will match fund the amount of donations and we'll keep you updated as to the progess of the woodland, as we go!

All you need to do is tick the box on the bookings page of our Ticket Agents saying you want to donate and, as if by magic, and a little bit of effort, a tree shall be planted for you!

Directions

Sunrise Celebration is being held at a farm on the A359 between Frome and Bruton, Somerset. Gates open to the public at 12 noon on Thursday 28th May, you will not be admitted to site before this, you need to leave site by noon on 1st June.

Liftshare: If you want to offer or request a lift, go to www.freewheelers.com/Sunrise_Celebration

Driving to the Site:
Please share cars with your mates or find some new friends through the Freewheelers website, remember this is a Green event!

If you are using Sat Nav the postcode is BA11 4NX. The site is off the A359.

In order to keep the neighbours and local authorities happy please do not approach the site by driving through Bruton. It is an ancient small town of narrow winding roads and will easily become congested with extra traffic from the festival, it also has the world’s most confusing one-way system.

If you are coming from the South on the A303 take the A37 North from Podimore Roundabout, at Cannards Grave take the A361 East, then at the Nunney Catch Roundabout take the A359 South towards Bruton for a few miles, the site will be signposted and on the right hand side.

Getting to the Site by Public Transport:

The nearest railway station is Bruton, and is only 1.6 miles from the site, there will be a regular Big Red Bus service for festival goers from the Railway Station to the festival site. Bruton is on the First Great Western Train Service No. 123 which runs from Weymouth to Bristol and includes stops at Bath, Dorchester, Castle Cary, Yeovil and Frome amongst others. If you are coming by train from London take the London Paddington to Penzance Service No. 135 as far as Castle Cary, then the 123 Service from Castle Cary to Bruton.

Bruton is served by the 667 bus service which runs from Street to Wincanton. If you are arriving in Bruton by bus please go to the Railway Station to get the Big Red Bus to the site.

Berry’s coach service from London to Wincanton departs Hammersmith Bus Station 15.15pm arrives Wincanton 17.20pm. But please be aware that the last bus from Wincanton to Bruton leaves at 17.30 so if the coach is late you will have to make alternative arrangements to get to site – like a shared taxi.

First 667 bus service Wincanton to Bruton (St Mary’s Church bus stop) takes 10 minutes). Monday to Saturday Service 9.00am 10.30am 12noon 13.30pm 15.00pm 15.45pm 17.30pm
